Chessington World of Adventures (CWoA) has announced a major new addition for 2027: Minecraft World, the first fully immersive theme park land inspired by the best-selling video game of all time.

The £50 million project is being created in partnership with Merlin Entertainments and Mojang Studios, bringing Minecraft’s iconic biomes, mobs and block built creativity into the real world for the very first time. The new land will feature a world first Minecraft coaster, interactive adventures, large-scale play areas, themed dining and retail, and plenty of surprises for fans of all ages.

Angela Jobson, SVP of Global Brand at Merlin Entertainments, said the team is “thrilled to be bringing Minecraft’s creativity, bold adventures, and ridiculous fun to life” at Chessington, promising an experience families can explore and craft together.

Mojang Studios has worked closely with Merlin to ensure the land feels authentically Minecraft, even collaborating with well known Minecraft creators to help shape the experience.

Torfi Frans Ólafsson, Senior Creative Director of Entertainment at Minecraft, described the project as “a meaningful milestone” for the franchise, adding that visitors will be able to “literally be in the Minecraft Overworld and have an adventure of your own”.

Minecraft World is set to become one of Chessington’s most ambitious developments yet.
