CDRA hosted a local election hustings on 15th April 2026 which was well attended by local residents. The hustings provided a chance to hear directly from the parties standing in the local election on 7th May and for residents to put their questions to the candidates in an open, respectful setting.
One candidate from each party for each of the two local wards introduced themselves and provided an opening statement on their priorities, should they be elected.
There was healthy round of questions from audience members from why our council tax is one of the highest in the country to each party’s policy on Green Belt and high rise development and from how they would tackle anti-social behaviour and hate crime. The proceedings concluded with short closing statements.
The following candidates participated (in alphabetical order):
Simon Bain, Reform UK
Tony Banks, Labour
Stephen Cherry, Reform UK
Kezia Coleman, Labour
Lorraine Dunstone, Liberal Democrats
Andreas Kirsch, Liberal Democrats
David Philips, Conservatives
Sue Towner, Conservatives
