You may have heard that Morrisons is closing its less profitable supermarkets which are primarily former McColl’s stores. This unfortunately, will include Chessington North supermarket and Post Office which will close on 8th August 2026.
We don’t think that the supermarket will be missed by many, but the convenience of the Post Office will be sorely missed.
CDRA wrote to Sainsbury’s to suggest that they purchase the Morrisons space next door and take over the Post Office. However, they replied that the space was not large enough to make it viable. They also said that so far, they do not have the experience of running a Post Office.
The Post Office HQ claims to be looking to restore a Post Office service to this area. However, for the time being they are advising that the closest Post Office for us to use is Hook Parade (inside Tesco’s supermarket) which is just 0.6 miles from Chessington North. Their opening hours are Monday to Friday 9am-5pm and Saturday 9am-12.30pm.
CDRA will continue to liaise with Post Office HQ to get a replacement Post Office reinstated in Chessington North.
