Lloyds Bank in Surbiton to close in March

Lloyds Bank, Surbiton

We are sad to report the closure of another high street branch of a major bank. Lloyds in Surbiton, on the corner of Claremont Road and St James Road, has confirmed to its customers that it will be closing on 4 March 2025. “Most customers are now using our mobile banking app, internet banking or calling us instead, which means they’re using branches, including Surbiton, much less,” wrote Luke Morrison, the bank’s regional director. “Because of this, we’ve made the decision to close Surbiton branch.”

According to Money Week, this takes the total number of Lloyds branches shutting down throughout 2024/25 to 292. It’s not the only high street bank closing branches as more customers, apparently, are moving to digital banking. In 2024 NatWest closed 51 branches and TSB has plans to close 36 branches. It’s been many years now since we had banks in Chessington. Losing the nearest Lloyds is disappointing. We will keep you updated if we hear of any other planned closures in the area.
